Clinical Trials

Being a part of the Northside Hospital network, allows our patients access to the latest in breakthrough procedures, technologies and treatments through our participation in national clinical trials. Through clinical trials, doctors find new ways to improve treatments and the quality of life for people with cancer. Researchers design cancer clinical trials to test new ways to:

  • Prevent cancer
  • Find and diagnose cancer
  • Treat cancer
  • Manage symptoms of cancer and side effects from treatment

Typically, clinical trials are only available to patients at available university or research institution settings, however, Northside patients have access to exclusive cancer-related clinical trials.

Northside Hospital Cancer Institute’s (NHCI) Cancer Research Program is one of the largest community-based oncology/hematology programs in the nation and is one of the few cancer research programs in the country offering Phase I-IV clinical trials.

Why Should You Participate in a Clinical Trial?

Becoming involved in a clinical trial will give you the opportunity to:

  • Receive expert medical care from specialist investigators and doctors.
  • Gain access to the latest treatments and techniques being evaluated for your condition.
  • Contribute to medical breakthroughs that could affect generations to come.

No clinical trial is completely without risk, and patients who wish to volunteer should understand the possibility of unpleasant, serious, or even life-threatening side effects. Additionally, some trials can be time-consuming and may not offer any benefit.

It is the policy of our practice that all physicians and staff preserve the integrity and the confidentiality of protected health information pertaining to our patients.

If you have any questions or would like to see if you may qualify for a clinical study, please speak with your surgeon.
