About Dr. Lee P. Gerson

Dr. Lee Gerson is a board-certified physician in thoracic and general surgery. He specializes in robotic thoracic surgery and minimally invasive techniques for lung and esophageal cancer. He has a particular interest in upper gastrointestinal pathology (GERD, heartburn), esophageal motility disorders (achalasia) and paraesophageal hernias.

Dr. Gerson understands that needing a thoracic surgeon can be scary, so every interaction he has is guided by his desire to provide the kind of care he wants for himself and his family members.

He aims to provide the highest level of care for his patients, adopting and perfecting the latest minimally invasive techniques for thoracic surgery, while always keeping safety and quality in the forefront of his decision-making. Most importantly, he is a fierce advocate for his patients and spends extra time helping them navigate the health care system to achieve their best possible outcomes.

Dr. Gerson is an Atlanta native and was born at Northside Hospital. When he’s not working, Dr. Gerson enjoys spending time with his family and playing tennis, as well as playing baseball with his sons and watching Atlanta Braves baseball.

Dr. Gerson practices out of our Atlanta/Sandy Springs and Cumming offices.
